I came across this picture this morning and started thinking about the idea that, so many that struggle with chronic illness talk about what it took to walk through the fire, what they endured and how they changed their lives, but often times, the caregivers and those that hold it all together are overlooked.
At the end of every school year, I have this feeling of excitement that Summer is arriving, but also this sadness that life is moving too fast. I don't often write about my three reasons for living my best life, but I have been doing so much work on myself, on my healing that it is hard not to think about the humans that wake you up every morning. I want it all to slow down, time moves at such a rapid pace, that you don't realize that your children are actual people and your job of changing diapers, giving nightly bubbles and singing lullabies has vanished.
Imperfect that’s me. My yoga practice, my journey towards healing, my job as a mom, as a wife, as a friend. When I look at this picture I see perfection in trying, and strength and perseverance but it’s not without a lot of effort.
I sometimes forget that for GF newbies, eating in general may be a challenge. Thinking of what you are and are not allowed to eat can become daunting. For me it is second nature and I promise for all of you that are reading this and just starting out, it will be the same for you!
Hmmm so what is self care. The definition goes something like this. Intentional actions you take to care for your physical, mental and emotional health. Taking that idea further, it's taking deliberate steps to ensure that your mind, body and soul are being nourished.
I get asked a lot of questions about living a gluten free lifestyle. Where do I begin? What am I going to eat? I have to give up so much that I love to eat! I won't minimize that it is a difficult life change , a shift in how you approach food completely.
My family is officially entering summer vacation, school is coming to an end and the craziness is about to begin.. Every year I promise myself that we will relax as much as possible, slow life down and try not to over schedule! Since that probably won't happen, keeping my kids active, healthy and safe is my top priority.
